Innocent Azih


Our Team

Innocent Azih holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Agricultural Economics and Interdisciplinary Policy PhD (in view) from Walden University, United States. He has over 20 years of experience in Program design, Sustainable Agricultural Practice, Renewable Resource Development and Policy Formulation.

As the Director of Carbon Exchange Trade, he directs the World Bank Price on Carbon Coalition, Interface and provides report on progress for the Company and Local action with the UNFCCC, AFDB, Voluntary Emission Certification and the UNGC Secretariat. Azih spearheads the organizations Carbon Assets Investments, applying his wide sustainability knowledge to develop business models and social investment scenarios in the emerging global carbon trade. In this new challenge, he is motivating the scaling up of renewable energy deployment in Africa by creating unmatched options for both Government andBusinesses.

Before joining SMEFUNDS, Innocent was Senior Consultant and Head (Agriculture, Special Projects & Advocacy) at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), where he created strong policy ties and collaboration with international, national, sub-national government and stakeholder groups by aligning effort and action with the United Nations Global Compact. He led the Local Network for the Nigerian UNGC to Asia, Europe, South America, North Africa and the United State for 5-straight years.

Innocent is a UN Green Ambassador, a member of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), the Society for International Relations Affairs (SIRA), the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Agriculture Policy Research Network of Nigeria and other professional bodies.
